Child Abuse Watch Group Doesn't Want "Pervert Pete" of The Who to Play @ Super Bowl's Halftime Show

Most people's memory of a Super Bowl Halftime Show unfortuunaly is Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction. I never understood how Janet even showed her boob for a song that wasn't hers. (Remember? the song they were performing was Justin Timberlake's song). Anyhow that malfunction was the talk after the game and in some folds more than the game itself.

Now the NFL wants to invite the classic rock group The Who to play at this year's half time show. Problem? Well that's because Pete Townshend of The Who is an ex-registered sex offender. Now some child advocacy groups are asking the NFL to reconsider and ban the band.

But these Child advocacy groups aren't doing much history of the past charge, but instead going with the 'title' that was attached to his name. I'm saying, check the facts before you prejudge. Click the link for more.

Fox News is Cable Champ -- latimes.com

Well if you haven't heard by now FOX News has taken a major jump in ratings since this past election and for the first time pass CNN in ratings. CNN and MSNBC both have taken a dip in ratings this year. I find myself watching FOX News programs, but when I really want hear news or opinions that aren't bias, I then turn to CNN. I watch all three. I personally feel that FOX programs is bias, however someone like Glenn Beck is so passionate about what he does, it's hard not to watch him. Even if a viewer doesn't like him, they'll listen and voice their opinions. In other words, I need to know both sides before I head to work for debate.

China Executes British Drug Smuggler

Death for drugs just doesn't make sense to the average mind. However, a person must respect the laws of the land no matter how crazy the law may seem. If he was a mule, had mental issues, whatever the case, the laws of the land are the laws of the land. Is it right? Not in my opinion and the opinion of others. However this took place in China and in China the people may have a different view to this. The term 'War on Crime' is so foolish in my opinion, because the money and stakes are so high, there will always be insiders getting the drugs to where they need to be. It's the simple math, business model of supply and demand. I wonder what the China Gov't is going to do with the drugs that were found. I doubt if they throw it in the river. Someway, somehow, just like here in the states, those drugs will get misplaced or lost within the gov't or a branch of it. Then those same drugs will be on the streets on China. Not a fact, just my opinion. What's yours?

Child Services is Investigating Charlie Sheen's Domestic Incident

Couples have disputes and couples have arguments. However when violence is involved in a dispute, this dispute now becomes a crime. By now most of you have heard about Charlie Sheen's domestic dispute and I'm not going to say I know what happened. However facts are facts and fact is Charlie was arrested and released on bond. Allegedly Mr. Sheen brandished a knife at some point and children were in the home at the time.

From my past experience in Child Protection, I know Mr. Sheen will have to stay away from his wife until the court date. Anytime there is domestic violence and children are present, child services must do their own interview independent from police. Child protection has a different angle as to the safety of the children in the home. Counseling is a must! I'm sure their intentions were independent of their children, but children just being in the home when two adults have a domestic dispute involving violence is a crime. It's called neglect.

Now here is my other question, why am I still seeing Charlie Sheen in commercials with Michael Jordan about some boxers? When I compare this to Tiger Woods the question just pops in my head. Tiger didn't break any laws and was not arrested. Tiger walked away from his domestic incident and there wasn't any reported violence in his situation on Tiger's part. Some reports say Tiger's wife slapped him, but who knows. Police weren't called to Tiger's home. His wife was not in fear of her life, so I ask the question again, why am I still seeing Charlie commercials? I’m just asking a question to make you think.

Damian Marley and Nas Project "Distant Relatives" to Drop in March '10

Damian Marley and Nas project Distant Relatives is set to hit our ears before the kids hit the beaches for spring break in mid March. The project is mostly produced by Damian and his brother Stephen Marley and it features artists such as Erykah Badu, K'naan, Joss Stone, and Stevie Wonder. There’s also a Saalam remix for a track produced by the Marley brothers which features their legendary father Bob Marley. I know what you're thinking and my thoughts are similar, "Can't wait for this one".

Marvadene Anderson is only16 years old and is the tallest teenager in the world. Marvadene aka "Bubbles" is the newest member of the Rutgers Prep High School basketball team in Somerset, NJ. The sophomore moved here from her native Jamaica after being scouted by the team's assistant coach right around her 15th birthday. After discussing the opportunity with her family -- who are still in Jamaica -- she decided to accept a scholarship at Rutgers Prep to play basketball and get a better education. ST wishes this young lady nothing, but success and maybe one day, she can dunk on Shaq. Check out the article on the link below.

Well D-Brock is set to drop a mixtape right before the year ends as a prelude to his album, which is set to drop in the beginning of 2010. I just got my hands on a copy of the mixtape yesterday and have been listening to it since. Be on the look out for D-Brock as he is a hidden talent in this pool of music. Tyra Banks to End Talk Show After this Season

As Jay Z would say, "On to the Next One" and with that said Tyra Banks is cutting the talk. The former supermodel told People.com that she is ending her popular daytime talk show, The Tyra Show, in spring 2010.

"This will be the last season of The Tyra Show," Banks told People.com. "I've been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years."

I personally think she got out at the right time. She will go on to do other things, but it's good to go out on top. Her show was a success and she's ending it before some people call it corney. Congrats on five years of great talk Ms. Banks.

Percy Sutton Dies at Age 89

When I hear the name Percy Sutton, I think of the Apollo theatre, WLIB/WBLS radio stations in NYC, and I think of Harlem. Mr. Sutton passed away last night at the age of 89. Sutton was considered one of New York's most influential figures, spawning the careers of a who's who of prominent black politicians. Read more about a son a slave from Texas turned prominent politician and became a face a Harlem, NYC.

Charlie Ahearn on "Wild Style"

Around this time of the year, people in my life send out some form of love. I either get a Christmas card, a text, an email, or a call. Well I got a call from one of my dudes from around the block and we had a great time talking. We don’t talk often, but when we do it’s about family and friends, then music, films, and books. Well yesterday’s conversation somehow lead into ‘REAL HIP HOP’ vs today’s Rap music. This is a conversation many true Hip Hop fans find themselves having as they get older. Since we went back in conversation, it made me want to post one of my favorite films of the Hip Hop era. Thanks for taking me back Kev. I remember watching Wild Style at Sunrise Cinemas with the fellas.

Hip Hop Legends Concert Series IV @ BB Kings NYC

http://www.bbkingblues.com/schedule/moreinfo.cgi?id=4874

Though I won't be home in NYC for the Christmas holidays, I can still put out info about a good show. Funk Master Flex hosts the Hip Hop Legends Concert Series IV featuring some legends of Hip Hop.  Some of the expected artists are Method Man and Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan, EPMD, Dougie Fresh, Main Source/Large Profesor, Onxy, Showbiz & AG, Masta Ace, and Ed OG. I'm sure others will show up to see a great show and to also get a chance to hit the stage @ one of the best spots to see a show @ in NYC. BB Kings Blues is a great spot for fans of music. 'Standing Room' will get you a great view of the stage and if I was in NYC for the holidays like I usually am, then I would be at this show. For those in the NYC area that are fans of HIP HOP and want to give themselves a gift for Christmas, then this is the show for you. I'll be looking for comments from anyone who attends.

Corinne Bailey Rae - I'd Do It All Again (official video)

100-0 Coach is Fired (ESPN Pardon The Interruption reports): Micah Grimes

Florida man exonerated after 35 years behind bars

James Bain smiles during a hearing at the Polk County Courthouse Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 in Bartow, Fla. Bain was released Thursday after spending 35 years in prison for a 1974 rape conviction when new DNA evidence exonerated him. 35 years is a long time but I ask, was the evidence used to convict this man back in 1974 overwhelming? Was there any circumstantial evidence? Did race play a part? I mean it is Florida and this did happen back in '74. Did the jury and prosecutors just wanted to go home? Several questions always come to my head when I hear of innocent people being released from prison for crimes they do not commit. Check out the story and you be the judge.

Nigeria - African Music Legends - Fela Kuti in Concert 1

FELA! Musical (off Broadway)

For ST's followers who don't know, FELA IS HIP HOP!! Fela is a Nigerian gumbo consisting of Chuck D (of Public Enemy), Che' Guevara, and Bob Marley. Fela was a musician, a revolutionary, and a proud African. I first came across Fela while listening to Common's album, Like Water for Chocolate. This was back when real fans were able to read a CD jacket label for where a particular sample was used. Upon discovering Fela song was used as a sample, a Nigerian co-worker told me all about Fela and made me a CD of some of Fela’s music. From there I went on a mission to find and listen to all of Fela’s music I could get my hands on. Though my intentions were to catch this play now on Broadway this past Thanksgiving break, I was unable to. However, I do have this on my list of must-dos. Those in the NYC area, this is not a bad event to check out for the holidays. This is the play when it was Off-Broadway. Enjoy. I did.

Opposing Views-Ex Police Chief - Don't Stop at Just Marijuana Legalization

With the recent opening of the marijuana cafe in Portland (aka 'POT'land), Oregon and the lax marijuana laws in California, there is no wonder that the majority of the American population thinks marijuana should become legal. This recent article I came across has an opinion of an Ex Police Chief who also agress with the legalization of marijuana and the positive effects it would have on taxpayers and society. Cele|bitchy » Blog Archive » Rihanna goes topless on GQ cover, pays homage to Lady Gaga

I spotted this cover last night while surfing the net and said to myself, "Damn". It features a nearly naked Rihanna in nothing but skimpy jewelry and even skimpier shots mugging it up for the American version of GQ Magazine. The issue should be hitting newsstands near you shortly. Are you loving the photo?

The Foreign Exchange - Daykeeper

The Grammy Nominated Group, The Foreign Exchagne with their single Daykeeper. I love this group and I love Phonte who is one third of the rap group Little Brother and one half the group The Foreign Exchange. His diversity and talent as a true musician is displayed on this album and not leave Phonte in a creative box. The gumbo this group makes on this single makes it one of the best underground singles of the year. Real Music got a lot of nominations this year for grammys. I just hope Real Music wins.

Adultery Still Crime in NH After 200 Years - ABC News

With Tiger Woods and adultery being in the news so much recently, the state of New Hampshire is looking at taking the crime of adultery off of the books. The original punishments - including standing on the gallows for an hour with a noose around the neck - have been softened to a $1,200 fine, yet some lawmakers think it's time for the 200-year-old crime of adultery to come off New Hampshire's books.

Seven months after the state approved gay marriage, lawmakers will consider easing government further from the bedroom with a bill to repeal the law. Read how the state is looking at this future change.

Chris Brown bashes Walmart on Twitter for not Carrying his CD

Chris Brown may need to go back to anger management class - and fast.

The scorned singer had a meltdown on Saturday after he visited a Walmart in Wallingford, Conn., that didn't carry his new CD, "Graffiti."

"im tired of this s--t. major stores r blackballing my cd. not stockin the shelves and lying to costumers," he ranted on Twitter while at the store. "what the f--- do i gotta do...WTF... yeah i said it and i aint retracting s***. im not biting my tongue about s else... the industry can kiss my a--."

It's just my personal opinion that Chris Brown's label should have waited a little longer before he came out with an album. I mean, this guys' core audience is young teenage girls, so how can a record company put out an album so soon after the domestic violence incident and not expect back lashings. I like Chris Brown as a musician and I wish him the best, but to go on a rampage like negative feedback is not suppose to happen is not being real. What did he expect?

Buju Banton arrested on a federal drug charge

Controversial Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton is cooling his heels in a Miami lockup, suspected of plotting to sell cocaine.

Federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents said Banton, 36, will be charged with conspiracy to possess more than 11 pounds of cocaine with intent to deliver.

This is a sad blow for Reggae Music and its fans, because Banton's ninth album, "Rasta Got Soul," just received the prestigious Grammy nomination for best reggae album this year. Of course many people remember Buju for his 1990 hit song, "Boom Bye Bye" which was an anit-gay song and prompted the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to launch a protest. Let's just wish Buju the best.

Robin Thicke does a remake to Rakim's Mahogany. I'm liking this cut right here and it's always good to bring back a classic.

Chad Ochocinco changing his name to “Hachi Go”

Chad Ochocinco changing his name to “Hachi Go”
I love Chad Johnson's antics. He's comedy and though his comedy is probably a little too much for the NFL, his antics get attention. The one thing Chad Johnson is not, is a trouble maker off the feild. So whether it's Ocho Cinco or Hachi Go, I'm still going to be a fan of his, but I will call him what his Momma calls him, Chad Johnson.

Winnie Mandela Should Be Played By Native Not J-Hud

I remember when BIGGIE's movie was about to come out and many people thought Angela Bassett playing the Jamaican mother of BIGGIE would have been better if the part was casted for an actress with a Jamaican accent. A lot of southern people also felt this way about Denzel Washington playing the role of the southern speaking Frank Lucas. Well now the natives of South Africa wants Winnie Mandela played by a native instead of Jeniffer Hudson. My first thought......why didn't they cast for a South African actress to begin with? I personally think that actors speaking in their native tounge is more real than the actor/actress with the big name. The subject matter comes across as more real. Check out the article and you be the judge.

ERIC ROBERSON's - A TALE OF TWO-RECEIVES GRAMMY NOMINATION

The Top would like to send Congratulations shouts to one of the biggest underground artist of this Neo-Soul era, Mr. Eric Roberson (or E Robe as I call him). E Robe’s song, Tale of Two was nominated for a Grammy off of his new LP, Music Fan First. The word play and subject matter on this song is like no other. The song is Hip Hop & Classic R&B, and Neo-Soul all rolled into one and a well deserved nomination for E Robe. Congrats again my brother.

Cheney's Pre-Speech Criticism of Obama on Afghanistan Went Too Far -

It amazes me how Cheney’s voice is so popular. His voice and opinion is more popular than his former boss. Cheney has to be the most popular VP in all of American history, because he was more respected amongst his peers than his boss. When I hear this guy, my mind tends to go back to the time when our current Commander in Chief had his inauguration. Cheney was in a wheelchair and claimed he could not shake our new president’s hand. I knew then that he was being disrespectful and he’s proving it now. This guy has no respect for our current administration along with other conservatives. This shows the world how divided this country is. Cheney’s concern is the money that Haliburton will continue to make during this war. Check out the article and judge for yourself. Keep in mind, he was a VP and he goes on record constantly to criticize the current administration. (((Newsflash)))) Dick, we’re in this war because of your work in our prior administration. poliTRICKS as usual.

Sarah Kruzan: Sentenced to Life Without Parole at Age 16

This is another example of the punishment not fitting the crime. i'm not saying she shouldn't be punished, but life withou parole is a bit over the 'Top in my opinion. Some may look at this as self defense to a situation she could not figure a way out. Again, not saying this young lady should walk by any means, but I think serve something like 15-20 with a chance at parole. She was a minor in a very adult situation and that should have been taken into consideration.

I think it's time to for Roy to pass on the baton, hang up the jersey, whatever you want to call it, his time is done. If Roy wants to get back in this game, maybe he needs a George Forman workout. Otherwise, bow down and out gracefully.

Obama OKs More Troops for Afghanistan

poliTRICKS at it's best. This war was initiated by America's previous administration and somehow this administration must clean up. My question, "Why are we in this war?"
