The Legendary: A Film About The Roots

Director Cam Be in association with OkayPlayer TV and Go Where Hip Hop brings us, The Legendary: A Film About The Roots. This has got to be one of the hardest working bands in music regardless of genre. The 4 times Grammy winners never seem to get comfortable, but instead they get better, and keep raising the bar with their art. Their album, How I Got Over, was ST's most listened to album of the year and our personal favorite Hip Hop album of the year. Enjoy this short film and if you haven't gotten How I Got Over by now, grab it at a discounted price (here).

Wife of NYPD Inspector Lies About Black Male Beating Her Up

Here we go again. The easiest person to frame in this country is a black man and it seems to never get old. Recently the wife of a NYPD Deputy Inspector lied when she told authorities that a ‘Black Masked Man’ beat her up. Come to find out, her wounds were self inflicted.  At the time I’m posting this information, the wife of the Deputy Inspector has not been charged with a crime. ST will keep you informed of this madness and make sure this lair is charged with filing a false report.  Read more (here).

Lil Kim Drops Video for "Black Friday"

Lil Kim dropped a video for "Black Friday" late last night, off of her Black Friday Mixtape. Although the video is considered 'late' in today's music world, I'm just glad a video was dropped. Also, check out ST's last post about Lil Kim defending herself and Mary J on stage (here).

Cee-Lo Green's Grammy Performance is a Classic One

Cee Lo Green took home a Grammy for  Best Urban/Alternative Performance and if you didn't know why, you knew why after his performance from last night. Not many people can upstage a Lady Gagaperformance, but Cee-Lo did. For those who didn't know or understand the outfit thing, the outfit was based off of the outfit that Elton John wore on the Muppet Show. Watch both here and enjoy. Great Performance Green.

Best New Artist Grammy 2011 Winner Esperanza Spalding

If you didn't know who Esperanza Spalding was until last night when she beat out Drake and Justin Bieber for Best New Artist, well now you know. Spalding has been on the underground scene for sometime now. Her album Chamber Music Society was a definite underground banger for the fans of real music. This talented vocalist and musician is a Portland native and a student of music. So much so that she taught music at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. This is an award that surprised many, even myself, but it was well deserved. Congrats and we look forward to some more music coming from Esperanza.

Watch Lady Gaga's Grammy Arrival in an Egg

Lady Gaga had all eyes on her during her red carpet entrance at the Grammys last night, but it wasn't because of what she was wearing. The Pop star arrived on the red carpet in translucent egg. The Pop star's egg was carried by models who wore nude color outfits. Like her or not, this is a great entrance.

Egypt's President Mubarak Steps Down

The PEOPLE of Egypt voices were heard today as President Mubarak step down from his presidency. His speech last night spoke mostly of handing over some of his power, but that's not what the PEOPLE wanted. The people want to end the whole regime who have been in place for the last 30 years. I hope the transition of change and democracy can be a peaceful one for the Egyptian people. Trust me when I tell you, this is a pivotal moment in history. The world is watching and will be for at least the next 5 years to see how effective this change was. But for now, the Egyptian people are enjoying the moment.

It seems that if your man, husband, or boyfriend has some fame and the two of you part ways, then leak a nude video and act as if you don't know anything about it. That will keep your name in the news. Case in point, Amber Rose. See Below.

HEROIC ELDERLY WOMAN FIGHTS OFF WOULD-BE JEWEL THIEVES

Now this is funny. As a small group of would-be jewel thieves tries to break through a UK jewelry store window with a sledge hammer, an elderly woman rushes across the street and uses her handbag to fight off the bandits.

'Basketball Wives' Star Jennifer Williams to File for Divorce

Jennifer Williams the wife of former NBA player, Eric Williams  and one of the cast members of "Basketball Wives" is filing for divorce. Reports of the split started to surface around the net. The couple's marital problems have been chronicled on the VH1 reality series last season and this second season of the show. Now I'm not a fan of the show, but I find it interesting when she tells the magazine, "This whole lifestyle is dysfunctional; its not a typical marriage. The bad just started to outweigh the good." Some relationships just fade, but the ST crew is still amazed at the nude footage of Jennifer Williams that surface on WSHH. Wonder if the marriage was a platform for other things from the beginning of the marriage. #justsaying. Read more (here).

He kicked her off the stage where he is the boss. Alot of LOL's and LMAO's were circling around the Twitter world about this last night. What a waste of a front row seat.

Sealy's Interesting Super Bowl Commercial

This wasn't the funniest Super Bowl commercial, but it was the cutest with Valentines Day not too far away. This commercial may have viewers minds somewhere else in the beginning, but this is just some couples who enjoyed their Sealy Posturepedic mattress. I guess what happens in the mattress stays in the mattress.

Happy BORNday J Dilla

J Dilla, aka Jay Dee, aka James Dewitt Yancey would have been 37 years old today. The legendary Hip Hop producer left an impact in Hop Hop that has grown since his sudden death in 2006. J Dilla worked with different people in music like Talib Kweli, Dwele, De La Soul, Common, Madlib, and of course Slum Village, just to name a few. With his mother, his family, the city of Detroit, and Hip Hop, Jay Dee's music will always be around and his legacy shall live on. One of the best who producers ever. Above is, "Won't Do" off of the acclaimed album, The Shining. The video has cameos from Common, Will.I.Am, Black Thought, Talib Kweli, Dilla's brother John aka Illa Jay, and Mrs. Yancey, Dilla's mother. R.I.P. to one of the best that ever made a Hip Hop beat.

Raheem DeVaughn Celebrates Black History Month with a Poem-"Final Call" aka "The Message"

To commemorate the celebration of Black History Month, Raheem Devaughn penned a poem that will be featured on his upcoming album, A Place Called Loveland
"Final Call" aka "The Message" Lyrics Are Listed Below:

Fist Up With The Afro Pick,
I Remember Marvin Gaye Used To Sing To Me,
He had me feeling like Black was the thing to be.
James Brown Used To Sing To Me,
He had me feeling like Black was the thing to be.
Now if you know like I know,
Then turn this up on the radio.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down.
Fathers teach your babies,
Mamas raise young ladies,
Prepare for struggle,
Prepare for grief,
But teach them love,
Teach them peace in a world,
In a world of wealth and poverty, In a world of sex and HIV.
Senseless Killings,
Trappers dealing,
A world of recession, repossession, foreclosure and homelessness.
But don't you let up,
Keep your head up,
And remember, yeah,
I remember King and Malcolm marching for me, they had me feeling like Black was the thing to be.
Huey and Hampton dying for me,
They had me feeling like Black was the thing to be.
Now, if you don't know like I know,
Then turn this up on the radio.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Preachers, preach them scriptures,
Choirs, sing them good hymns,
In a world of addicts, alcoholics, non believers, and false prophets,
Self Destruction and Freedom Fighters,
U.S Soldiers and Al-Qaiedas,
Mother wheels and USOs will they come in peace, man, I don't know.
In a world of rock music,
Hip hop,
R&B,
Soul & Pop,
I remember, yeah
I remember Soul Train used to show it to me,
They had me feeling like black was the thing to be.
Motown used to sing it to me,
They had me feeling like black was the thing to be.
Now if you don't know like I know,
Then turn this up on the radio.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
I remember Bob Marley used to sing to me,(Redemption Songs)
he had me feeling like feeling like Black was the thing to be.
I remember Curtis May used to sing to me, he had me feeling like Black was the thing to be.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down.
(TAKE 30 SECONDS TO REFLECT ON YOUR BLACKNESS)
I remember Mandela doing life for me, he had me feeling like black was the thing to be.
Mandela, when they set him free, had me feeling like Black was the thing to be.
Now if you don't know like I know,
Then turn this up on the radio.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Now, I remember Ali swings bows for me, he had me feeling like black was the thing to be.
And 2Pac and Public Enemy,
Kickin Knowledge Like Black Was The Thing To Be,
Now If You Don't Know Like I know,
Then turn this up on the radio.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.
Don't turn me down man,
Keep me up.

To Be Continued...A Place Called Loveland Coming Soon.
